Part I · Chapters 1–11

Python Crash Companion

An unofficial companion to Python Crash Course, 3rd ed. Not affiliated with No Starch Press.

Read the book, then practice here. Each chapter has notes in our own words, an exercise that runs in the browser, and a short quiz. We cite the book by chapter, section, and printed page. We never reprint it.

How a chapter works

01

Learn

A few short notes, each tied to a section in the book. The example code is ours, written for the idea on that page.

02

Practice

An original exercise with a Python editor. Run it, read the check, open hints one at a time, or reveal a solution.

03

Quiz

A choice, a predict-the-output question, and a few lines of code. The score is that chapter’s proficiency, saved on this browser.

How a citation looks

When a note sits beside the variables section, it saysBook: Ch. 2, 'Variables', p. 16. That page number comes from the 3rd edition map, not from memory. Part II projects are on the chapter list and marked coming later.
